Greenville Town Commons reopens after Matthew flooding

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville Recreation and Parks have opened up the Town Common and Bradford Creek to the public after they were closed due to Hurricane Matthew flooding.

While water has receded in most places, officials said they’re still not safe.

Crews are working around the clock to clean facilities and get them up and running.

“We were very fortunate we did not have tremendous damage, but we still got areas we’re going to have to address, but we’re getting back online,” said Dean Foy, Greenville Recreation and Parks.

River Park North and parts of the Greenway are still closed.

Dean Foy said his crews are working to open the entire Greenway by the weekend.
