KENANSVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Two Duplin County men were arrested after one of them crashed a car into a county vehicle in a Walgreens parking lot while attempting to escape from police, according to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Faruq Rose and Levone Murray were arrested as part of multi-state investigation into a drug trafficking group bringing large amounts of cocaine into North Carolina.
Deputies pursued the suspects after two packages containing four kilos of cocaine were intercepted at a residence on Highway 41 in the Wallace area, according to Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
Faruq Rose was charged with three counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place to keep a controlled substance, conspire to traffic in cocaine, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, injury to personal property, resisting public officer, driving while license revoked, reckless driving to endanger and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rose was placed in the Duplin County Jail under a $10,104,499 secure bond.
Levone Murray was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and he received a $500 secured bond.
