Bill Clinton makes suprise stops in Kinston, New Bern before Greenville visit

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Before his speech in Greenville Tuesday night, former President Bill Clinton made several stops throughout eastern counties, including unannounced visits to the Clinton field office in New Bern and Mother Earth Brewing in Kinston.

Surprise does not even come close to describing how dozens of people in New Bern and Kinston felt when Clinton stopped by.

Several said they were in disbelief when they saw him; others took selfies with the former president.

In New Bern, he visited the Clinton campaign field office, where he spent time energizing the crowd, and he spoke briefly on issues in America and the differences between the two candidates.

He told volunteers to leave no door un-knocked and no voter unspoken to.

As the race continues, he said he won’t stop campaigning until the last poll closes.

Clinton will be at Five Points Plaza in Greenville Tuesday as part of the Clinton campaign’s “Stronger Together” bus tour.

Doors opened at 6:15 p.m.

Clinton also visited Rocky Mount and Goldsboro.

Bill Clinton last visited Greenville in March, prior to his wife’s nomination.

The following roads will be closed in Greenville  during his visit:

• The 5 Points Lot closed Monday at 1 p.m. The city is asking everyone to remove their car by the end of the day today. Parking will not be permitted in the lot tomorrow.

• Evans Street will be closed from Dickinson Avenue to 4th Street starting at approximately 4pm tomorrow.

• 5th Street will be closed between Washington and Cotanche Street. Detours will be posted.

• Guests are encouraged to use the 4th Street parking deck or other public lots downtown for parking. Please do not park at the library.

• There will be one single pedestrian entrance on the south side (Dickinson Avenue entrance) of the 5 points lot. The rest of the event area will be taped off. Come early and expect long lines.

• There will be a designated demonstration area on the public sidewalk on Dickinson Avenue in front of the library.

• Additional GPD officers will be staffing the event. They are continuing to work with the secret service as far as security needs.
