Tarboro Police make an arrest in a Sunday afternoon shooting

TARBORO, N.C. (WNCT) –The sound of gunshots leads to an arrest in Tarboro.

Police say officers were called to the 500 block of Benson Drive on Oct. 16th in reference to the sound of gunshots. When they arrived and began their investigation, officers received a call about a gunshot victim being treated at a local hospital.

As a result of the investigation, Tarboro Police identified the suspect as John Hinton IV.

Police say officers were dispatched to Hinton’s house where they noticed two cars outside.

Officers say when one of the cars left they initiated a traffic stop. Tarboro Police say Hinton was found inside one of the vehicles.

Hinton was arrested and charged with multiple felonies including Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

He was taken to the Edgecombe County Detention Center and given a $52,000 bond.
