Eastern N.C. residents take advantage of early voting

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt County residents hit the polls Thursday to cast their ballot on the first day of early voting.

Election volunteers at the Pitt County Agricultural Center on Government Circle said it was busy most of the day.

Community member David Boyd said he’s taken advantage of early voting for years.

“I don’t like standing in long lines, and I think just helps a lot of people really because a lot of people work different hours and different times.”

Boyd said even if you don’t vote early, just make sure you do.

Some voting locations in eastern North Carolina are closed due to Hurricane Matthew damage, so make sure check out the voting site locator for your county before heading out.
