No foul play suspected in Jacksonville shooting

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Police said Thursday there doesn’t appear to be any foul play in a shooting incident in Jacksonville.

It happened Wednesday night around 7:39 p.m. in the parking lot of 1144 Western Boulevard.

That’s where officers with the Jacksonville Police Department responded to a report of a shooting. They found 36-year-old Kevin Shane Allen of Grants Creek Road suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries.

There doesn’t appear to be any foul play, but the investigation is not yet complete.

“We have proceeded with an investigation into Mr. Allen’s death” said Sergeant Mark Ketchum, JPD Investigations Supervisor.

Several police officers are responding to an incident at a Jacksonville store parking lot.

Our reporter at the scene says she noticed several officers in the parking lot of Staples on Western Boulevard.

Police have taped off a portion of the parking lot.

Emergency crews responded to area just before 6:45 Wednesday evening.


Jacksonville Police say there is no threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing.

We are working to get more details about this incident.
