Flood waters interrupt Meals on Wheels in Lenoir County

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) Lenoir County Meals on Wheels volunteers are having a difficult time getting to home due to the flooding that consumed portions of the county.

An emergency services team recently helped the volunteers deliver frozen meals, but Lenoir County Council on Aging director Betsy Griffin said they are unable to get to homes in Pink Hill.

“It’s frustrating because these are people that are mostly homebound, and we really do want to make sure they got what they need,” Griffin said.

Griff said volunteers call all the people they serve every day, and she said she hopes to get the service back to normal by next week.
