Missing Dare. Co. teens located

MANTEO, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies in Dare County have located two missing/runaway juveniles. They were looking for 15-year-old Elizabeth Sinks and 16-year-old John Smith, who have both been found and are OK.

Sinks left her home in Southern Shores and was last seen on the evening of October 14 in Colington, NC near the Colington Fire Department.  She’s described as a white female, dark skin, dark brown hair with red streaks and was last seen wearing a white Hurley or Rip Curl Sweatshirt, jeans, and an orange toboggan. Sinks left with a red, green, yellow, and black backpack.


Deputies said she was in the company of John William Smith. He’s described as a white male, approximately 5’11” tall with curly, brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and black long-sleeve flannel shirt and jeans.


Both subjects were last seen Wednesday in the Soundview Drive area of Colington. Anyone having information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Dare County Sheriff’s Office during business hours at 252-475-5980 or Dare Central Communications after hours at 252-473-3444.
