Church hosts blood drive to meet Hurricane Matthew need

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – After the Red Cross lost hundreds of units of blood due to Hurricane Matthew, many in eastern North Carolina are stepping in to help those in need.

Unity Freewill Baptist Church hosted a blood drive Tuesday, and it is just one of several happening in our area to resupply local blood banks.

“Well any time there’s loss, there needs to be people who make up the difference,” said Jeff Manning, senior pastor at the church. “So if people are losing blood or losing life as a result of damages or whatever, it’s good to replenish that supply.”
If you missed Tuesday’s event, there are other chances to donate.

On Wednesday, ECU will have a blood drive in Mendenhall Student Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
