Local Kinston residents held a ‘Give-back Bash’ to help flooding victims

KINSTON N.C. (WNCT) – Residents in Kinston are not letting the flooding in their area tear them apart.

Hundreds gathered at Grainger Stadium for a food give-away for victims of the flood.

Fresh hot dogs, chicken, and spaghetti were on the menu as people lined up.

There was also a choice of personal hygiene products available for anyone who needs them.

Event organizer, Donta Lewis said he came up with the idea Friday night.

With the help from Food Lion and local volunteers, they were able to put it together.

“If they can’t get to us our best is to get it to them so we’re doing as much as we can to get back up our community on this side of Kinston North Carolina and make everybody happy once again.”

Lewis said even under short notice — he is impressed by the outcome.

He plans to hold another give-away event next week.
