Duplin fire departments hand out free clean-up kits

CHINQUAPIN, N.C. (WNCT) – Three Duplin County fire departments handed out clean-up kits to residents to aid in the Hurricane Matthew recovery.

The kits, valued at $30 each, are free to all residents affected by the flood.

The clean-up kits include items like bleach, mops, buckets and garbage bags.

The fire department has nearly 30 kits right now that they’ve been distributing to residents and more will be available in the following days.

“They’re free to the community,” said Korey Rackley, Chinquapin Fire Department. “Anybody who needs one or two or ten, they can come pick them up. You can be here at all hours. The fire department is in and out all day, but the EMS crew is pretty much here 24/7.”

The fire department also has about 70 cases of water for those in need.
