Update: Around 300 piglets die in Duplin County hog farm fire

ALBERTSON, N.C. (WNCT) – Several fire departments put out a structure fire at hog farm in Duplin County.

It happened around 3:30 Thursday afternoon on the 600 block of Woodland Church Road in Albertson, N.C.

Fire officials say when firefighters responded they saw flames and smoke coming from one of the structures on the farm.

A fire official says around 300 piglets died in the fire.

The Duplin County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighters from seven different departments responded to the fire.
