JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Tuesday, volunteers joined together in Jacksonville to clean up the city.
United Way of Onslow County activated its volunteer center to aid in recovery efforts. The organization also activated a disaster relief fund where you can donate money to help others in the area.
“The fund was established in 2011 after the tornados that hit the Piney Green area to provide short term relief and long term recovery funding to local agencies that are providing disaster relief services,” explained Craig Wagner, President United Way of Onslow County.
100 percent of the donations will go toward local relief.
You can donate by texting Onslow Disaster to 91999.
Individuals interested in assisting in disaster recovery can register to help 24 hours a day by visiting the Volunteer Onslow website at www.volunteeronslow.org or calling (910) 938-HELP (4357) seven days a week between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
