Persistent wind, power outages, some flooding reported in New Bern

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – There are still a lot of power outages in New Bern.

There’s scattered damage, but it’s clear a storm rolled through. Wind isn’t helping.

Saturday, there were a number of flooded roads, but it seems a lot of them have receded; near Oaks and Cedar roads were at last report still underwater.

Downtown, the wind is taking a toll; awning was ripped apart, some signs are on their last limb, hanging on for dear life.

Near the waterfront area, there are a lot of fallen branches and debris in the road.

Residents were out early Sunday morning to see the damage for themselves.

“We did a quick survey this morning and there’s a lot of mess,” said Seth Miller, New Bern resident. “We have some young trees we planted that are bent a bit, nothing broken that’s real bad.”

A lot of people in New Bern are still without power; most of the downtown area is in the dark.

Persistent winds could cause more power outages.

A couple roads still have some standing water here and there.
