Hatteras Inlet ferry to Ocracoke suspended due to Hurricane Matthew

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – The North Carolina DOT announced they would be suspending ferry operations between Hatteras and Ocracoke due to the approach of Hurricane Matthew.

The last ferry departed Ocracoke at 8 a.m. Saturday. That will be the final ferry until the storm passes.

NCDOT reports around 1,362 people have evacuated from Ocracoke.
