Emergency curfew issued for Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (WNCT) – Atlantic Beach Mayor Danny Navey has signed into effect a curfew for the town due to Hurricane Matthew.

The curfew will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and end at 7 a.m. on Sunday. It will not apply for first responders or medical staff.

A State of Emergency was issued for the town Friday ahead of the storm.

The curfew comes as officials fear the storm could threaten Atlantic Beach and result in injury or death, and damage to property.
