GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Two local high school coaches garnered regional and national recognition this week.
Havelock’s Jim Bob Bryant was named by the Carolina Panthers as their Coach of the Week.
The Rams head coach was chosen from more than 400 high school coaches in the Carolinas.
Bryant will receive a $1,000 donation from Carolina Panthers Charities and the NFL to Havelock’s athletic department.
He’ll also be recognized during a special on-field ceremony during the Panthers’ December 11 contest against the San Diego Chargers.
Also, this week D.H. Conley head coach Nate Conner was named one of the top 50 nominees for U.S. Cellular’s Most Valuable Coach program.
Coach Conner was selected from hundreds of nominations, and the public can now vote on who will make the final 15.
At the end of the program, two coaches will be recognized on the field at the Under Armour High School All-America Game on Jan. 1 live on ESPN and will receive $5,000 each for their school.
