Craven County officials monitor Matthew, consider options

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – While no alerts or evacuations have been ordered in Craven County, the emergency services team is on standby monitoring Hurricane Matthew’s track.

Craven County assistant emergency services assistant director Ira Whitford said this storm’s path is frustrating and will cause decisions to be made at the last minute.

“This has gone on now for over a week, and every time it changes it’s hard to plan for it,” Whitford said. “So we’re all just sitting on the edge, waiting for the decision to come down that we need to make.

Whitford said his team meets daily to go over the latest information regarding Hurricane Matthew, and they are ready for whatever the storm brings.
