BEAULAVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Three Beulaville men have been charged with 16 counts each of felony larceny of swine after Duplin County deputies said they stole pigs from a Beulaville farm.
Deputies said they responded to reports of a load of pigs leaving the farm and then stopped the vehicle and initiated an investigation into the swine theft.
The farm’s owner, Ernest Carter, was one of the three charged. Deputies said the farm was integrated into Smithfield Hog Production, and he tried to take the pigs for himself.
George Baker and Scott Thigpen were each charged with one count of felony possession of stolen property on top of the charges of swine theft.
Deputies said if anyone has purchased BBQ pigs or pork products from any of three arrested, they should contact Detective Eric Short with the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
