Students learn from therapy horses at Pitt Community College

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – An unlikely duo made an appearance at Pitt Community College Monday to provide an educational experience for students on campus.

Gunner and Sammie, therapy horses at the Rocking Horse Ranch in Greenville, were on campus to help recreational therapy students learn the benefits they offer when it comes to service assistance.

“We have the therapy as far as animals and substance abuse and it all comes together,” said Roxanne Williams, recreational therapy student. “Each and every outlet can benefit from it, so that’s just excellent.”

Students were able to learn about equine-assisted activities and how horses can play a valuable role in learning all while getting a good laugh as they walked around campus.
