Sinkhole closes Onslow County road

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A sinkhole has closed down an Onslow County road for the next two weeks.

Crews worked Monday to fix the sinkhole off Blue Creek Road around the Southwest Creek Bridge.

The sinkhole is about eight feet deep and three feet wide.

The sinkhole was caused by a washout from a recent rain event.

The road will be closed at least until October 16, and drivers should attempt to find an alternate route.
