Silver Alert canceled for missing Duplin County man

CHINQUAPIN, N.C. (WNCT)- At the request request of the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, the Silver Alert has been canceled for Mervin Niles Edwards.


CHINQUAPIN, N.C. (WNCT)- The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing endangered Duplin County man, Mervin Niles Edwards.

He’s believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Edwards is an 83-year-old white male, 5’7″ tall and 180 pounds. He’s described as bald with blue eyes and was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue shirt, dark blue dress pants, black shoes and possibly a baseball cap.

Edwards was last seen at Laniers Chapel in Chinquapin and is believed to be heading toward Fountaintown Rd. in Beaulaville. He’s driving a 2000 Champagne Chevrolet S10 with NC license plate DJF8017.

If you see Edwards, contact the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
