Save Blounts Creek named Governor’s Conservation Organization of the Year

BLOUNTS CREEK, N.C. (WNCT) – Save Blounts Creek now has some hardware to show for all its efforts.

The group received the Governor’s Conservationist Organization of the Year award.

Members said that after years of trying to save a piece of the environment it’s nice to be recognized. They added that the icing on the cake would be to win in court.

“If we could have a favorable ruling from Judge Berger, you know it would be party time,” said Capt. Bob Boulden, Save Blounts Creek.

Save Blounts Creek is waiting to hear from an administrative law judge.

The group took a company to court. They said a quarry will ruin the creek’s ecosystem. The company said it won’t harm it.

The judge’s decision should be released soon.
