GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Doors are open at Pitt County’s new English second language resource center.
The school system created the center as a place where parents can have access to free resources to help their children succeed.
Approximately 950 students in Pitt County speak English as a second language.
A bilingual instructor coaches parents who may need assistance acclimating to a new environment.
“[It’s] To support what they’re learning in school at home, to prepare them for parent-teacher conferences, helping them with what that procedure is like, what they can do to prepare, what they need to know going in and just to be effective in terms of supporting their children’s learning.”
The resource center is open from 8 to 12 on Tuesday mornings and 1 to 5 Thursday afternoons.
It’s located at the CM Eppes Middle School.
