GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt Community College’s Small Business Center is now ranked number one for startups in North Carolina.
The center provides seminars and training for potential and existing small business owners, leading to job creation and retention in Pitt County.
More than 3,000 residents utilize the center.
“We give them all the steps that they need to start a small business, in the order that they need to do it,” said Shareen Berkowitz, small business counselor. “We connect them with all the people that they need, and the seminars are key. I think they’re great for networking.”
This top ranking allows the college to receive additional performance-based funding from the state. Many of the center’s programs are expected to be enhanced and provide more assistance to small businesses.
