Beaufort Co. Police Activity League breaks ground on new youth center

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Beaufort County’s Police Activity League broke ground on the new PAL Youth Aviation Technology Center Tuesday afternoon.

The six thousand square foot building will sit right next to Washington’s airport terminal.

Program coordinator Alvin Powell said that’s perfect for the STEM-based programs the building will house.

“We’ll have aircraft simulators, computers, science and technology hands-on experiments, and projects the kids can work with, because we’ll also be working with boating and marine ecology,” Powell said.

Leaders hope to have the building finished by the new year.

Construction will cost over a $100,000, and they still need to raise $30,000.
