Police: Ayden man shot in neck undergoes surgery

AYDEN, N.C. (WNCT) – An Ayden man who was shot in the neck Thursday underwent surgery to repair the gunshot wound to his throat.

The victim, Ronrico Chapman, 33, of Ayden is listed as being in serious condition, according to a Vidant Medical Center representative.

 

The shooting happened just before 3:30 Thursday afternoon.

Ayden Police say officers were called to a man shot at the intersection Martin Luther King Jr. and Planter Streets. When officers arrived they found a man with at least one gunshot wound to the neck. He was taken to Vidant Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators say they are following leads in the shooting; however, the incident is still under investigation.
