Pink fire truck stops in Jacksonville to raise terminal illness awareness

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A bright pink fire truck stopped in Jacksonville Thursday to raise awareness for women battling terminal illnesses.

Pink Heals helps sick women pay medical bills and handle other problems that arise from their illnesses.

Jacksonville first responders were on hand Thursday for the event, and six-year-old Bobby Garcia had the chance to climb up into a fire truck.

“I went in there and went inside and saw all of the buttons in there,” said Garcia. “I want to be a fireman when I grow up because they’re cool.”

The truck is traveling from Arizona to Florida on a year-long trip.

Along the way, it is being filled up with signatures of survivors and their family members.

The pink firetruck’s next stop is Wilmington.
