WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Winterville Town Council approved the town’s first facade grant program, allowing downtown business owners the opportunity to apply for funds to restore their businesses.
Economic development planner Stephen Penn said helping business owners will help downtown as a whole.
The goal is “to improve the overall economy of the building, (and) to bring more people to downtown, whether it’s shopping or whether it’s opening up their own business,” Penn said.
The town hopes the facade grant program will also help restore history, architectural quality and the overall economy of the area.
Business owners can apply for the grant at Town Hall.
Those approved will receive up to $3,000 for work on the front of their building. The town allocated $30,000 for the program this year.
