New Bern dedicates ball field to fallen police officer

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – A multi-purpose field in New Bern is being built in honor of an officer killed in the line of duty.

New Bern police officer Alexander Thalmann died in 2014.

The New Bern Board of Alderman approved $170,000 Tuesday night to transform this open piece of land into a ball field, adding sod and goal posts.

Thalmann’s mother is donating the scoreboard.

Construction will begin in the following weeks and should be complete by April.
