GREENVILLE (WNCT) – East Carolina worked on protecting the football in the rain on Tuesday as the squad gets ready for this weekend’s trip to Blacksburg and the game with Virginia Tech.
“You know the first thing we talked about today was a little bit more,” said Montgomery after pracitce. “That was the winning edge for today when we talked to the team before we went out, a little bit more, a little bit more.”
Despite the bad weather the Pirates got in all of their planned work for Tuesday.
Montgomery said the weather actually turned out to be an asset to the practice.
“I think it was a blessing to be able to be out there in the rain,” said Montgomery. “We spent about 15 minutes today on just ball security, and that’s not just carrying the football a certain way, but also receivers being in the proper alignment and blocking to make sure guys aren’t shooting their side on us, getting hits on the ball, all those things, we had a great day of work today.”
East Carolina is an 11-point underdog in Saturday’s game with Virginia Tech. You can see that game live on WNCT-TV 9 on Saturday at 12:30pm.
