GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – An accident shut down I-264 westbound Friday morning when a car flipped three or four times after running off the road, according to troopers.

The wreck occurred just after 11:30 a.m. near Sheppard Mill Road by the Beaufort and Pitt County line.

Trooper said the driver, Alice Sneed, 38, of Greenville, was not paying attention and ran into the median. She then tried to jerk the car back into the road, hitting a ditch and causing the car to flip, troopers said.

Her sister, Siannann Sneed, 44, of Durham was a passenger in the car and was pinned in, so crews on scene had to cut her out of the vehicle.

Troopers said both sisters survived but did suffer injuries. They said Siannan Sneed broke bones and suffered worse injuries because she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Alice Sneed was charged with exceeding safe speed and driving left of center. Her sister, Siannan, was charged with not wearing a seatbelt.
