Community Spotlight: A.G. Cox sports complex to be named after retired teacher and coach

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – In this week’s community spotlight, 9 On Your Side is headed to Winterville.

Happening Thursday, A.G. Cox Middle School will hold a dedication ceremony.

They’re naming the school’s baseball and football complex after Mr. Joey Baggett.

He’s a longtime teacher and coach at the school from 1982 until his retirement in 2011.

During his career, Baggett won over 30 championships in various sports, including five consecutive boys’ basketball championships from 1991 to 1996.

The ceremony is happening at halftime of the A.G. Cox Raider’s football game against P.S. Middle School.

Kickoff is at 4 pm.
