Permanent pill drop box installed in Surf City

SURF CITY, N.C. (WNCT) – A permanent prescription pill drop box is now available for residents in Surf City.

The Surf City Police Department installed the box at its location at 305 N. New River Drive.

The box cost about $800 and was paid for through donations by two Surf City residents.

Use the box to dispose of expired, unused, over-the-counter and prescription medication in pill form.

It is recommended that you transport all medications in their properly marked original pharmacy or retail containers.

Do not dispose of needles, liquids, creams, aerosols, batteries, combustible or radioactive materials in this box.

The drop box can be accessed Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 7pm.
