GREENVILLE (WNCT) – East Carolina’s volleyball program is off to the best start in school history at 8-0.
Pirate head coach Julie Torbett says creating a winning culture is vital to a program.
“It’s really important for this program to experience success,” said Torbett. “I think, until you have a taste of that you don’t know what it’s like and you don’t know what you’re working for. We’re going to have some losses that probably come along and we’re probably not going to go undefeated so when they get the taste of losing, too, hopefully they’ll hate losing and love winning and they’ll work even harder to make sure that we end up with the w’s.”
East Carolina has two tournament wins to date. The Pirates have matches with South Carolina State and Georgia State before opening play in the American Athletic Conference in Dallas at SMU a week from Thursday.
