Beaufort County to test telephone notification system

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Beaufort County Emergency Management will test their county-wide telephone notification system 7 p.m. Tuesday.

At that time., all residential land lines and registered cell phone numbers will ring, and a message will state it is a test call.

It will be the first time they have run the test. According to a news release, the test is meant to alert cell phone users who have not registered their numbers with the system and to bring attention to the system’s importance.

The department said they anticipate somewhere between 30,000 to 35,000 calls to go out. They acknowledge it will cause some confusion, but they said it is necessary to test the system county-wide.

If you would like to register your phone number with Beaufort County Emergency Management you can do that here.
