KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A post about men supporting and encouraging young students on Lenoir County Public Schools’ Facebook page is going viral in the community.

The post shares a dozen photos from a Monday event at Northeast Elementary School. As of Tuesday morning, it’s been shared over 150 times.

The school asked for 100 men to turn out on the morning of Monday, Sept. 12 as a gesture of support.

According to the Facebook post, 165 men showed up, including pastors, first responders, coaches, educators and a lot of dads.

The men lined the main hall at school and offered encouragement as the students paraded past.

LCPS Superintendent Brent Williams and Elder Khyaam Shepherd of St. Mark’s Church spoke to the school’s male students.

Events like this will continue throughout the year at Northeast Elementary School as monthly Motivational Monday programs, which will begin in October.
