ECU/NC State game puts cash for charity at stake in the Victory Barrel

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – The tradition of the Victory Barrel continues, and it will be up for grabs at Saturday’s game. The barrel, a trophy that marks the winner of every ECU vs. NC State football game, will be passed on to whoever takes home the win.

To up the stakes this year, the ECU’s student government association thought of a new challenge. Both teams raised money, and whoever takes home the barrel will give all the cash to charity.

“We are here to serve, and that is one of our biggest mottos,” said Dallas Owens, ECU’s student government association treasurer. “There is no better way to serve than to actually serve or to give money to charity and try to impact the lives of others.”

Owens said he hopes ECU keeps the barrel for the third straight year, and students will be able to pick which local charity the money will be donated to.
