Community doggie pool party brings an end to summer

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – This Labor Day weekend, many are hitting the pool one last time including dogs.

Dozens of pups and their owners made a splash or two at the annual Greenville doggie pool party at the community pool.

Some dogs were pros at swimming, catching balls, and a few even balanced on boogie boards.

Others tried to stay dry and out of the water.

Dog owner Lindsey Smith, said it was her dog’s first time swimming and she did her best with her very own doggie floatation device.

“Hazel is just not ‘studdy’ in a bikini so we just did the pool noodles because we really didn’t know how she was going to take to water over her head,” said Smith

The fun-filled event is held every year before the pool closes for the season.

Proceeds benefit the Greenville off-leash dog area.
