Albert J. Ellis Airport celebrates one-year anniversary of new terminal

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Friday is National Aviation Day and it’s also the one-year anniversary of the opening of Onslow County’s new airport terminal.

The 67,000 square foot passenger terminal at Albert J. Ellis Aiport replaced the original building from 1971.

The airport is constantly updating to better serve passengers. 9 On Your Side reported last week how it received a federal grant to add power conveyors which will shorten baggage lines and allow for heavier baggage.

Soon, Delta Airlines will begin operating a larger Boeing 717 on weekdays to allow for more passengers.

The terminal also has free Wifi.
