WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was struck by a van while waiting for his church bus in Winston-Salem earlier this month has died.
Local news agencies report that Winston-Salem police say 32-year-old Steven Stewart died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Stewart, of Winston-Salem, had been receiving medical treatment since he was hit and sustained injuries to the lower part of his body on Aug. 7.
Stewart’s death hasn’t yet been determined to be a direct result of the crash. An autopsy is pending.
Investigators say Stewart was standing on the sidewalk waiting for a bus when he was struck by the van driven by 37-year-old Erik Randolph.
Randolph faces multiple charges including driving while impaired. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
