Richlands man charged with shooting man in the back

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies in Onslow County say they’ve charged a Richlands man for shooting another man in the back.

18-year-old Justin James Brady is charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Injury and Felony Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling. He turned himself in on Tuesday.

On August 13, deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded to Onslow Memorial Hospital to talk to an individual who had reportedly been shot. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim, who indicated he was shot in the back by the suspect after a dispute. Investigation into the incident showed Brady was the assailant.

Brady was taken before the magistrate where he was given a $125,000 secured bond. He’s at the Onslow County Jail pending his first court appearance.
