RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh hair salon was robbed of nearly $4,000 by a masked man carrying a sword Saturday morning, an employee said.
The robbery occurred around 11:40 a.m. at Customers Come First African Braids located at 5655 Western Boulevard.
At one point during the wild robbery, the man held the sword to the throat of a worker, the store owner told CBS North Carolina.
According to employee Lyreesha Seligmiller, she was inside the store with a customer when a masked man came in armed with a sword and wearing a Little Caesars Pizza shirt.
The man came into the store and put the sword to her throat, threatened her and the customer, and then demanded money, Seligmiller said.
“(He) told me to give him everything in the register, but I explained to him we don’t have a register. So I went in the back, and I gave him everything that was in the back, over $4,000,” Seligmiller said. “We usually don’t have these kinds of issues, but from here on out we’re going to ensure more security measures, so all our clients and anyone that comes feels safe.”
Seligmiller said that she believes another man had been casing the area beforehand. She said that a man came into the store and asked a question and then left. A few minutes later, the robbery occurred. She said the suspect was not the same man that came in the store moments earlier.
A witness said the suspect got into a tan and gold Toyota Camry.
