Pitt Co. MERC students complete program

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Rising 10th-grade students in Pitt County completed a new program teaching them about technology on Thursday.

Making Engineering Robotics and Coding or MERC gave students the chance to put their minds to the test and gave them the opportunity to be creative and invent new products and allowed them to work with others who share their interest in science.

Jed Smith, the Pitt County Schools student Acceleration Advisor said this has given students the chance to explore their mind and learn new things, “Giving them the freedom to tinker and play and experiment, they all have really enjoyed that opportunity to get their hands on knowledge and learn by doing.”

Smith said he hopes in the coming year more students from other grades will be able to participate.
