Curlings sidelined, Lovett takes over in interim role

NEW BERN (WNCT) – Veteran New Bern football coach Bobby Curlings has stepped down, at least temporarily as he deals with a health issue.

Curlings hopes to know more about his situation next week. Defensive coordinator Steve Lovett is now running the day-to-day operations of the team as the Bears prepare for the 2016 season.

Curlings led New Bern to state championships in 2007, 2012, and 2014. He says he’ll continue in an advisory role until he knows more from his doctors.
