UPDATE: Precautionary Boil Water Advisory lifted for Jacksonville apartments

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted for Arlington West Apartments off Western Boulevard.

According to a press release, water tests found there was no contamination. This comes after a failed device may have allowed some contamination in an area around a pool on Wednesday.

A backflow device installed for the pool has apparently failed. The device was to prevent any flow from the pool back into the water supply. The defective device was replaced and the pools were closed on Wednesday.

The City will now test similar devices in the complex and all pools in the City as an additional precautionary action.

While evidence was found that the pool water had entered the apartment water supply, there was no evidence that any harmful bacteria was in the water. The test for bacteria was positive around the pool, but not in the office water supply nor in any subsequent tests.
