Onslow Co. easing Zika fears through mosquito spraying program

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Onslow County is helping to ease fears over the Zika virus.

There aren’t any confirmed cases, but residents are still concerned. So the county is offering to spray yards for free.

It’s all a part of the mosquito spraying program.

Environmental director Tony Padgett says the county is receiving around nine calls per day.

“Normally, this knockdown when we come through, should last you a couple of days and it might take us a couple of times coming back to spray you,” explained Tony Padgett, Jacksonville Environmental Services Director. “If you’ll call and request, if it gets really bad. But it works very well.”

Padgett said to further prevent mosquitoes around your home, empty any containers of standing water.
