High School Football kicks off across the east

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – High School football is here. August 1st is the first day teams are eligible to hold organized team practices for fall sports.

And football teams, starting at 12:01 a.m., went right to work, gearing up for the 2016 season.

The Kinston High School Vikings held a midnight practice in hopes to the be the first team on the field in the state.

Havelock, New Bern, D.H. Conley, Farmville Central, J.H. Rose, also conducted non-contact practices.

Teams can first implement contact into their practices starting August 6.

High Schools can scrimmage on August 10, and the first week of games are Friday, August 19.
