NEWPORT, RI (WNCT) – American Athletic Conference commissioner Mike Aresco certainly understands.
All of the schools in the American want the same thing, to be included in the Power 5 conferences.
Aresco knows his league might not look the same this time next year, with the Big 12 set to expand, perhaps sometime this month.
“Really, it means a lot to our league that the Big 12 would look at our teams,” Aresco told WNCT-TV Sports Director Brian Bailey. “It means we are doing something right.”
Several of the league’s schools, including East Carolina, have come out publicly about being included in the Big 12.
“I understand that our AD’s are under pressure,” said Aresco. “There are no hard feelings. We want the very best for all of our schools.”
Aresco is scheduled to address the media on Tuesday morning.
