GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- Teams from all over the east made their way to Greenville’s Community Pool for GASSL’s championship meet. That’s Greenville Area Summer Swim League.
Ten teams gave it their best shot in hopes of bringing home the title. Seven of the teams are from Greenville the others traveled from Tarboro, Washington, and Ayden. Tarboro’s team ended up taking the crown. Greenville Country Club came in second.
While everyone was in town because of a swim meet, parents and coordinators say it’s about so much more.
“It’s great exercise and conditioning and the ability for to hang out with your friends on top of that is even better,” GASSL president Joel Bullard said.
Parent David Jones said, “Most of the families on the teams have swam for years and years together and the older kids play with the younger kids the older kids help the younger kids, it’s definitely something where they all get to grow together.”
